Yesterday I purchase a piece of Claro Walnut that I have been wanting to purchase for over 6 months. Just like so many things I have ever wanted for myself, I put it off because it wasn't necessary. Perfect example: I have been using a cracked, duct taped iPad for a few years now yet I bought my daughter a new one for Christmas. I was going to get myself one after saving up a bit. Instead, I bought wood. A fantastic piece of Claro Walnut that I've already titled "The Shaman."
I did need to spend this money. I know is money well spent, certainly trumps an iPad! The one I have still works and is replaceable. This piece I wood is one of a kind and is going to feed me.
The shop is warming up as I type. I'm going to miss the ritual if starting the fire to warm up the shop, it's a great way to start the day.
Juice of the day:
This is my first blog entry! This is also the first time I've had something worth blogging about.
I'm jumping into my own business with both feet. As a child I was always involved with home renovations or crafts. I was the only girl in metal and wood shop, I was used to being the only girl. My love of wood working has been slowly coming to the surface over the past 5 years. I've been finishing live edge slabs, part time, for over a year and I need more. I'm done with being mediocre. I'm finally doing what I want to be when I grow up! I am so lucky to have the love and support of my family to take this job seriously. I have appointed one of my best friends to be my manager. She believes in me and I respect her. This is the perfect balance for me to keep on track. She will tell me to stop being a slacker and remind me to stay on task. In turn, I have agreed to respond to her inspirational blog, zenditty.com, that she started after a year of battling breast cancer; which in turn, will motivate me! It's a win win situation for me.
I plan to use this space to share what I learn along the way. About wood and other creative materials, JUICE and general wisdom I learn along the way.
Feel free to share what you know about these things!
